A Regular Guy Who’s Red Hot and Green
Pop Rock Candy Mountain recently chatted with Carter about his new HGTV show “Red Hot and Green,” his work on behalf of children’s charities, and his heartthrob status. But Carter scoffed at the notion of being a model; he’d rather focus on his good work, not his good looks.
“Red Hot and Green” premieres in June, and focuses on “design that centers around using eco- friendly products in the home,” Carter said. “Green is huge now, but we don’t want people to feel pressured or made to feel guilty about it so we are hoping to win them over with the designs.”
In addition to his new show, Carter will continue hosting “Carter Can” on HGTV and running his non-profit children’s organization “Carter’ s Kids,” as well as various other children’s charities. He started “Carter’s Kids” to encourage children to engage more in outdoor activities, instead of sitting in the house playing video games. “We get the kids involved in building community parks and playgrounds and in taking care of them after they are completed, “he said. “It’s about activity but it’s also about community and building self- esteem.”
Carter would rather use his celebrity to be a mentor and role model for kids, and laughed off the notion that he is anything other than a regular guy. “I’m not a model. Sometimes, I’m just on a boat and then a guy takes my picture…[but] I pick up dog poop like everyone else does."Source: Pop-Rock Candy Mountain
