    Handyman over Hunk . . .

In an interview with Greg Hernandez of DailyNews.com, Carter modestly downplayed his good looks and instead preferred to talk about his carpentry skills, Carter Can and setting some rumors straight about his celebrity clients. "I'm not a model . . . I'm a carpenter," Carter says commenting on a fan's statement about his model good looks. It's difficult to ignore Carter's aesthetic pleasantness, but Carter prefers to focus on his work versus his looks. Carter takes pride in his work and gets a great sense of satisfaction in seeing a nicely built piece of furniture or a well-executed project appreciated by his clients.

In terms of his budding career especially with his new show Carter Can on HGTV, "I was at the right place at the right time, and there was a job available," Oosterhouse says, "It's a blast - being on a show, being able to rebuild and help people in their homes and being able to get the feedback instantly from fans all over the U.S." Carter's done some work for celebrity clients as well, but he's not into name-dropping. He did however clarify rumors about a famous celeb's kitchen, "No I didn't do Kirstie Alley's kitchen," he said but admits that he and his crew have done a lot of kitchens.

About his television show, Carter believes in entertaining and educating viewers, "There's always mindless entertainment and then there's entertainment that's almost mindless," he explained. "But with us, people can learn stuff. They can sit back and relax and watch how to do this and how to do that." Watching Carter Can on Thursdays at 8:30 is a double dose of educational entertainment, and the fact that the instructor is a looker of course makes the subject matter all the more interesting.
