    Carter to open Martin's Home Furniture Expansion

    Carter Oosterhouse Martin's Home Furninture

    Carter will appear in Bloomington on Saturday, Aug 16th to open the newly expanded, 33,000 square foot showroom for Martin's Home Furniture. He'll sign autographs and pose for photos from 10am to 1pm at 501 Chancellor Drive, near the corner of Hershey Road and Eastland Drive, as Martin's unveils a showroom almost double its current facility.

    Whole Foods Flavorfest

    Whole Foods Flavor Fest Carter will appear at Whole Foods Flavorfest, Chicago’s only all natural food and lifestyle festival, on August 23rd.  Whole Foods has eliminated plastic grocery bags from their stores, and are encouraging shoppers to use canvas bags in order to reduce wasting resources for paper bags.  To that end, at this event, Whole Foods will reveal a new limited edition reusable grocery bag designed by Carter.

    Ringing the bell at the NYSE with Rachael Ray

    On Tuesday, July 1, Carter & Rachael Ray will assist in the Opening-Bell ceremony that signals the start of trading at the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) for the day.  Carter and Rachael will join Scripps Networks Interactive (SNI) Chairman, President and CEO, Ken Lowe in this coveted honor dating back to the 1870s. SNI is the parenthood company for HGTV, home of "Carter Can" and  Red Hot & Green."   The ceremony will take place promptly at 9:30 AM Eastern Time.

    HGTV Honors Preservationists

    Carter hosted the Restore America Gala, which honors leaders who have made significant contributions to historic preservation. This year’s honorees included Valerie Cunningham, Founder and president of Portsmouth Black Heritage Trail, Inc. and Wade F.B. Thompson, founder of the Seventh Regiment Armory Conservancy in New York City.

    Restore America Gala

    Carter is hosting the Restore America Gala, honoring six champions of historic preservation whose leadership has helped restore and revitalize their respective communities. The event takes place in Washington D.C on June 3, at the Library of Congress.

    "For the past five years, the National Trust has proudly joined with HGTV to salute the Restore America Heroes who are making significant contributions to the preservation of America's communities through their unyielding commitment, vision, and leadership," said Richard Moe, president of the National Trust for Historic Preservation. "This year's award winners represent the diverse range of important preservation work being done across the country, and by the Department of State — worldwide, to key U.S. owned buildings. The National Trust is pleased to honor them."

    In 2007, HGTV launched “Change the World. Start at Home," a community revitalization and environmental cause effort organized in partnership with Rebuilding Together, the National Trust for Historic Preservation and the Natural Resources Defense Council. Carter put his expert craftsman skills to work for the cause as part of the network's awareness campaign.

    Carter at the Cincinnati Home and Garden Show

    If you find yourself in Cincinnati, OH at the beginning of March head on over to the Cincinnati Home and Garden Show at the Duke Energy Center. Carter will take part in what is known as Cincinnati’s “Biggest House Party” to meet and greet fans and to share some building and decorating ideas on March 1st. Doug Hart, president of Hart Productions comments that “We are creating a number of new opportunities for visitors to interact with experts in the home and garden industry with thematic stages and programs to share ideas and resources.” This year’s theme will be “Outdoor Living.” In alignment with the theme Carter will talk about “Green Building Solutions” and “Creative Budget Conscious Home Improvement Projects.” Carter will be doing some radio interviews in the Cincinnati area before the event so we’ll keep you posted on his radio interviews.
