A BIG PROBLEM

Learning To Solve A Problem Together

“When I was little, my imagination was filled with creativity and possibility. I always figured out how to build play spaces, forts in the woods, ramps – it never ended! My new children’s book A Big Problem teaches the tried-and-true problem solving process – the same process I’ve been using since I was young – but here it’s wrapped around a super outrageous story. This stimulates both creativity and logic. Children also learn how to work together by brainstorming, building and eventually solving the problem in front of them. In the end, this type of logical reasoning builds strong minded individuals and close knit communities.” – Carter Oosterhouse

CARTERS KIDS

I founded Carter’s Kids because I wanted young people to have a place in their neighborhood where they can enjoy activities to increase their health, self-esteem, and overall well-being. Growing up in Traverse City, my fondest childhood memory was getting together with the other neighborhood kids and playing sports. We played football, basketball, soccer and baseball… whatever filled the day. I grew up living an active lifestyle with a real sense of community. Plus, I began building things at a very early age so the combination of sports and building are a big part of me as an adult.

THE STORE

Thank you for visiting THE STORE. Justin Selby and me have partnered to bring to you this special line of unique pieces. We have acquired numerous old growth trees that have fallen and are very hard to come by. Since both Justin and I are furniture makers we couldn’t pass up the opportunity to share our creative passion with others. We are proud to introduce extremely rare, high end custom made furniture made from lumber that is hundreds of years old. We have limited pieces available and no two are alike but we can custom make furniture, and are wiling to work with our clients. We use various species of wood (Maple, Oak, Walnut, Elm, Cottonwood). Some of the material is even salvaged underwater lumber that’s even more rare. You may find similar products that are less expensive but I guarantee it will be hard to match the quality of the material, the durability and the style.

I hope you enjoy the items that you see as we will be updating this page every time we unveil a new piece.

If interested in the pieces you see here or you want one custom made, contact us now:
